Jamil Baloch

18 December

- 11 January, 2026

In this series, Jamil Baloch has created works on paper, exploring the relationship between tool and surface through drawings that evoke the rough texture of stone. Each image is suggestive of a portrait: a singular stone marked by distinct cuts, grooves, and ridges, resisting generalisation and suggesting individual identity. Though standardized in scale—much like passport photographs—no two forms are alike, echoing the differences found in human faces and language alike. Sensitive rendition of light and shadow reveal their mass, while conical peaks allude to mountains—their original source—now cut and displaced.
